Self-Love :: Love Yourself Quotes

If you aren't good at loving yourself, you will have a difficult time loving anyone, since you will resent the time and energy you give another person that you aren't even giving to yourself.
-Barbara De Angelis

The key to happiness is to give each task - including learning how to love yourself - all the time it deserves.
-Viveca Stone-Berry

If you think taking care of yourself is selfish, change your mind. If you don't, you're simply ducking your responsibilities.
- Ann Richards

Don't believe everything you think & don't give up on Love until you get your miracle!

Perfectionism is a form of
self-abuse. Take it easy on yourself.

The best way to help someone else is to take care of yourself.

If you're in a toxic relationship, your body is working in overdrive to produce the endorphins you need to combat the stress chemicals your body is producing.  All of the extra work puts a huge strain on your adrenal glands and can put you over the edge and straight into Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome or worse Adrenal Failure.  This guide is a must read – DON”T WAIT - read this NOW.

Self Love & Chocolate
by Ann Zuccardy, http://VermontShortbread.com.

No matter what background you come from, eating and sharing food are integral parts of holidays around the world.  In my culture, we enjoy a Thanksgiving feast with our families, sharing special treats at Christmas and Chanukah, candy and eggs for Easter , cake for our birthdays, cookouts for Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day, and of course, chocolate for Valentine’s Day!

While every day provides an excuse to eat chocolate, Valentine’s Day is an especially sweet reason.  Yes, it may be expected; it may even be cliché, but chocolate is definitely a “love booster.”

In its early history chocolate was considered a drug!  Chocolate contains a host of chemicals and scientists are only beginning to identify how they affect the body.  Chocolate contains a chemical called phenylethylamine that is similar to a chemical produced in our brains when we are feeling love and gives a high similar to that of amphetamines.  Chocolate has also been shown to increase serotonin (much like common drugs Prozac and Zoloft do), a chemical found in your brain.  While you’d have to consume ridiculous amounts of chocolate in order to become “addicted” to any of these chemicals, to us chocophiles, its effects feel addictive…just like love.

Personally, this “chocoholic” is addicted to both chocolate and love.  For me, it’s the smooth texture melt-in-my-mouth texture of a small piece of bittersweet chocolate dancing on my tongue with a little bit of wine after a savory meal or the creamy comfort in a steaming mug of hot chocolate made with milk chocolate and whole milk is what keeps me coming back for more.  The aroma of brownies fresh out of the oven or the refreshment from a Fudge-sicle on a wooden stick in the heavy heat of summer all make me smile and feel good just thinking about them.

Here’s some chocolate trivia (from the National Confectioners Association) to sweeten your Valentine’s Day:

     *  Chocolate is America’s flavor of choice.  52% of Americans identify it as their favorite flavor.

     *  American chocolate manufacturers use about 3.5 million pounds of whole milk every day to make milk chocolate.

     *  65% of American chocolate lovers prefer milk chocolate to dark chocolate (probably because it has more sugar
        in it!).

     *  More than 36 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate are sold on Valentine’s Day.

     *  In the 1800’s physicians advised those who were heartbroken to eat chocolate to relieve their symptoms.

     *  The melting point of cocoa butter is just below the human body temperature which is why it literally melts in your
         mouth.

     *  Switzerland has the highest per capita consumption of chocolate in the world at 22.4 pounds.

     *  That a one-ounce piece of milk chocolate contains about the same amount of caffeine as a cup of decaffeinated
        coffee.

     *  That not all saturated fats raise blood cholesterol levels. The form of fat found in chocolate, cocoa butter, does not
raise blood cholesterol levels even though it is saturated. That's because cocoa butter is derived from plants,
cacao trees; whereas other types of saturated fats are derived from animals.

These days many health conscious people avoid chocolate believing it to be “bad” for them.  I say that’s a big myth!  Nothing says self-love to me better than a life of balance…and chocolate.  What does that mean?  It means instead of eating a pound of high sugar, high fat chocolate every time I’m feeling down, I might treat myself to a couple ounces of deep, dark, gorgeous 70% chocolate on a regular basis.  Even better, I might indulge while I’m having a pedicure or lounging in the tub.  It means that instead of pre-mixed hot chocolate made with water after my day of snowshoeing, I might take some time at the stove to make a pan of real hot chocolate with milk and a dollop of whipped cream.

Whatever your background, chocolate speaks the universal language of love.  Treat your lover; treat yourself to something delicious and chocolaty this Valentine’s Day!

Am so glad you found your way thru this and could turn it around for
yourself and for others. It's the only way to fly!

It is well written, well-organized, and easy to follow, easy to make
one's own. The more we attend to ourselves, the more we experience our
Self! When we are that exhausted, we need all the help we can get!!!

In reading it, I also thought about the adrenal  exhaustion that occurs with Post Traumatic Stress, the holding of a trauma
in one's cellular memory because it is too much to deal with after the incident.

Great job! Big love,
